Fraud notice.
People sometimes pretend to represent investment firms in order to take money or personal information. This page explains how Ponk Ventures communicates, so that you can recognise a message that did not come from us.
What Ponk Ventures will never do
- Change a wallet address or payment instructions by email, text, messaging app, or social media message. If you receive new instructions that way, treat them as fraudulent.
- Ask you to send funds to unlock a return, release a withdrawal, or pay a fee or tax before you can access your money.
- Ask for a wallet seed phrase, a private key, a password, or a one-time code.
- Promise or guarantee a return, or pressure you to act before a deadline.
- Ask you to install software, connect your wallet to an unfamiliar site, or sign a transaction you do not understand.
- Contact you first through a messaging app, a social media direct message, or a dating site to offer an investment.
Sending funds to Ponk Ventures
Ponk Ventures may receive cryptocurrency, stablecoins, or other funds as part of an agreed investment or transaction. Impersonators target exactly this, by sending lookalike instructions or swapping one wallet address for another. Before you send anything:
- Make sure the transaction is documented and agreed with Ponk Ventures first. We never ask for funds before that.
- Confirm the full receiving address, and the network it is on, with us directly by live call or in person, using contact details you obtained yourself, not details from the message asking for payment.
- Check every character of the address, not only the first and last few. Address-poisoning attacks rely on lookalike addresses that match at the ends.
- For a first transfer, consider sending a small test amount and confirming receipt with us before sending the rest.
Blockchain transfers usually cannot be reversed. If any detail does not match, stop and contact us before sending.
How to recognise us
The only websites operated for Ponk Ventures are ponk.ventures and the related ponk.exchange. Look closely at the spelling of any address or link: impersonators often use a lookalike domain that differs by a single letter or an extra word.
A meeting booked through this site is confirmed on this site, with a link that opens your booking on ponk.ventures. Nothing in that process asks you for money.
If something does not look right
Do not reply, do not click links, and do not send anything. Write to hello@ponk.ventures from your own email client to ask whether a message, a person, or an offer is genuine. Include the sender's address and any links it contained.
If you have already sent money or information, contact your bank or the platform you used straight away, and report it to the police or your national fraud reporting service. In the United States that includes the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov. In the United Kingdom it is Action Fraud.
No responsibility for impersonation
Ponk Ventures is not responsible for communications sent by people who are not authorised to act for it, or for any loss that results from them. Reporting impersonation helps us warn others.
